This story got a lot of press from Tech Crunch and others about a month ago when the Kick Starter raked in $400 then $900 thousand in only 16 hours. Now, with 9 days left, no one has checked back in. Double Fine Adventure is now at almost $2.4 million dollars. That’s right, MILLION. Wow. Congratulations 2 Player Productions! And another great example of what Kick Starter can do for...

"Code is Magical" - Get Started Today
The recent Tech Crunch article about Kaitlyn Trigger, the girlfriend of Instagram co-founder Mike Krieger is a great example of how anyone can learn how to develop software. It gets easier everyday. This article then reminded me of my friend Clint Hall’s presentation, “Code is Magical”, which you should all watch (only 6.5 minutes). Stop putting off tomorrow, what you can do...

Come one, come all to the 5th annual Kansas City Coders for Charities event! I had the privilege of participating in the 4th event, and I must say: it was a lot of fun! Since I already sent Codecademy some feedback on step 4 of the FizzBuzz extra lesson, I couldn’t re-submit another variations of the code that technically appear to work, but isn’t what Codecademy is looking to “pass” the step in the lesson.
Here’s my code snippet that appears to work, and has a nested if statement, just like the Hint suggests it wants:
But, look...

MIT Set to Launch Online Learning Initiatives
Even if you are up-to-date on this breaking news from MIT, I find it important to take a moment to reflect on how much of a game-changer this will be.
Seriously, take a minute to read the article…and just think.
Now that you’ve collected your thoughts, what do you think? I’ve read a lot of articles (and watched plenty of video) about education and the rising costs of higher...

ByeDaddy.org Does Not Find All Registered Domains
Just an FYI to people using the ByeDaddy.org site, the website does not currently identify all registered GoDaddy domain names. I currently have one website registered that is not identified. Either ByeDaddy cannot identify privately registered domains or it cannot identify .co domain names (I’m guessing it’s the former).

MakerBots Instead of Toys For Tots?
Now that I’ve got your attention, maybe we need to re-think the holiday gift giving to be more beneficial to our nation’s youth and grow the engineers that we so very much need.

Tumblr, Please Add a Code Option
I’ve submitted an enhancement request to the Tumblr platform already. They like the request and I’m hoping more people request the same option to help push this along.
I’d like to have a “Code” option while editing posts. Basically, a widget to easily add samples of code that does not get screwed up by HTML markup and CSS from our current post options.

HTML for Making a Logo a Link
This may be simple for some people, but as I dive back into various languages of coding, I thought it was important to keep a note (more for myself) on the proper code to make a logo a link.
I had found a lot of blogs, and topics about this, and most people said to try what I was already doing:

Breaking Up is Hard to Do
I recently ended a 9 year relationship. It was tough, and I was denying the end for the past few weeks, but I had to move on. If I didn’t move forward…I was going to be late.
“Late?” you ask.
Yes, late. I needed to move forward and purchase a new alarm clock.
Now, think about this for a moment. How often do we truly purchase alarm clocks? Most of us need them, we...

It began after a restless night of minimal sleep and a very tired Friday morning. Mind you, the Friday prior to the Memorial Day holiday weekend. I had yet to make a donation but knew it was on my “to-do” list...
